The first week of April brought Spring! - and clean carpets and green grass and allergies (Gary) and summer clothes . . . not for us - but for the students that walk by our office windows every day!. With the sun shining but high temps only in the 50s, we had to laugh at the fraternity boys across the street playing sand volleyball with no shirts - working on their tans! We had some of the first daffodils - a whole row of them blooming in front of our little white house. And those weeds in the background - no longer there. I had fun digging in the dirt Saturday after conference. I love Spring!
Conference was excellent! So many great messages - peace, truth, light, atonement, strengthening your marriage and your family, missionary work, virtue, obedience, and more. How can you not feel the love of the brethren as you listen! From Elder Holland's fervor to Elder Nelson's enthusiasm to Elder Eyring's tenderness and Elder Bednar's boldness it was a great conference. It is so powerful to hear the apostles testify of Jesus Christ.
Dacia and the kids came to Muncie and watched conference with us here on Sunday. Kevin was on his way home from India so we missed him. It was nice to have them here. We stand and sing the "rest" song - no matter where we are viewing conference. Gotta keep those family traditions alive!
Brenda taught the Institute lessons this week and Gary taught both lunch lessons - on Peter and John (Acts). We had awesome broccoli cheese soup on Tuesday (thanks Julie for the soup mix!). Skeptical kids took one scoop - and all went back for more! Pulled pork burritos were a hit on Friday. We also fed the Elders after district meeting and helped provide lunch for them between session on Saturday. Back to the beginning of the week, we had a fun FHE - a Branch Talent Show. Highlights were: Stevie Wonder (Eldon blindfolded) playing the piano and singing, Taylor playing "Knock on Wood" on his guitar (awesome), Sam playing the ukulele and singing - and winning the People's Choice award (found out he is a former BYU Men's Chorus member). It was so nice out that we spent two morning walks picking up trash!
We are happy to be two of the 65,634 full time missionaries out right now - and for three more weeks.
