This was Family History Week for us in Muncie! On Monday we walked to the old train station that has been restored into a museum. This is where Brenda's dad most likely arrived when he served here as a missionary in 1949. They have cruiser bikes here for public use! Brenda hand-scrubbed the big kitchen floor and waxed it while Gary scraped old chipped paint off the big porch. Lesson prep in the evening. Tuesday we used the big George Foreman and gilled hamburgers for lunch. Brenda taught the lesson on the childhood of Jesus - up through his age 12 visit to the temple in Jerusalem. Lesson prep in evenings, journaling, and a trip to Walmart.

Had a lovely morning visit with Herb & Mildred Ridge, stalwarts here. They were a young married couple (4 yrs.) in 1949 and fed the missionaries often and supplied them with milk and eggs from their farm. Sister Ridge remembers Brenda's Dad. She even had two photos of him, which she has given to us! This one was dated May 30 '49. Unbelievable! That was 63 years ago!! In 1949 the "little Branch" met in the basement of the YMCA building. We saw the house where Harry lived - but it is under renovation right now.

Fed lunch to 8 missionaries who came to the Institute for District Meeting on Wednesday. Always working ahead, Gary wrote his talk for Sunday and worked on next weeks' lessons while Brenda did 5 loads of laundry and worked on the photo board (mounted pictures of all our YSAs). On Thursday Sister Ellis brought homemade bread and taught the lunch lesson on Jesus, the Bread of Life. Gary taught Institute that evening with 16 students in his class and 10 in the other one. They enjoyed his lesson on the Guidance of the Spirit. (Brenda baked the chocolate chip cookies for refreshments - which they also liked).

Indiana, like many states, is converting old railroad lines into trails. We biked part of the Cardinal Greenway Trail on Friday - a beautiful and fun way to exercise. We worked outside until 2:00 with temps in the high 80s - hottest day so far and very humid. We got dehydrated! Gary adjusted ten 2x2 ft. pine boards to cover the open eaves on the porch where huge carpenter bees drill perfectly round holes into the supports! Brenda dug up the clay soil in the flower garden, planted some perrenials and spread mulch. Once we recovered from the heat we had "hair coloring night". On Saturday Brenda got her wild hair cut shorter. One of our Branch members works at Great Clips. We painted the porch. (Gary did most of it). It looks great. Today we both spoke in Sacrament Meeting. Stayin' busy all the time!
