Ryan & Chelsea came to visit us!- and to announce, in a very clever way, that they are expecting their first baby! They are ecstatic - and we are thrilled for them (and for us!). It was fun to have them here even if it was for only 1 full Saturday. We walked on the river trail (saw some turtles) to the Minnetrista Museum where it was free day - so we went in and saw the exhibits. This town and University would probably not exist without the Five Ball Brothers who were weathly and generous.
Ryan and Chelsea brought our Dominion game and we played it twice. They liked seeing our apartment and the Institute. Our Muncie Institute is noted in the June Ensign article "Gathering In a Unity of Faith." Centers for Young Adults are in 28 European Countries (including the Netherlands where Joe's parents are serving, Finland (where Chelsa's parents served), 3 countries in Africa (including Zimbabwe) and only 7 states in the US. The Muncie Indiana Institute is a Center for Young Adults here - as we don't have a "real" Institute Buiding or a church employee instructor.
The week began with two Memorial Day picnics - breakfast with Muncie 2nd Ward and lunch with Muncie 1st Ward. We had two YSAs come to Institute on Thursday night that we "recruited" at the picnics! Gary & Brenda took turns teaching portions of the 80 minute lesson on Setting Goals & Managing Time. Gary taught the shorter New Testament lesson at lunch on Tuesday. Sure takes many hours to prepare each lesson! This week Gary used a scrub brush and portable hot-water upholstery cleaning machine (owned by the stake) to clean our 20 upholstered "turquois Relief Society" chairs and 3 couches. Big Improvement! Brenda put in 2 large stepping stones, 3 more bags of mulch, and more perennial flowers. She also finished the missionary map/photo board (we have 14 missionaries serving from the Branch). Wish we had before and after photos of everything here.
