Another week has zoomed by. This week Brenda taught the Tuesday lunch lesson "God is no respecter of persons". She prepared the Tuesday and Thursday lunches. After days of preparation, Gary & Brenda team taught the Thursday night lesson about the blessings that come from living the commandments, providing for yourself and others, and getting married in the temple. If you think that sounds like a lot of subjects for one lesson - you are right! It is a challenge to figure out different ways to involve the students in the lessons. We had our biggest class yet. It was fun making different types of popcorn (salted, caramel, kettle corn, and buttered) for refreshments. Some said they were the best refreshments yet. We enjoyed the leftovers - but they left only the salted popcorn! Gary has been busy finding some great church video segments to add to the power point slides for our next Institute lesson on talents and abilities.
Some highlights of the week: Both of us enjoyed a Friday afternoon trip to West Lafayette to watch Bryson and his baseball team play in the league championship game! That was the first time we've ever been able to see one of his games - pretty neat to be in Indiana!
On the way back to Muncie we stopped at Costco and Brenda was thrilled to be able to give a mormon.org pass along card to one of the sample ladies, who seemed pleased to receive it.
Gary, with the service help of two Elders, removed the single bulb side-mount light and installed some overhead lights and a large white board in the pingpong room. (table not re-centered in the photo) In September the room will double-use as a third classroom.
We enjoyed a 4-mile walk on Friday morning to an area of lovely historic homes. News from home . . We are glad that Kristin & Joe have found a home to purchase, proud of Stephen who spent Friday working in the emergency command center during the Eagle Mountain fire, and happy for Ryan who is excited about his appointment to the North Salt Lake Planning Commission.
