Our NSL home is no longer vacant. Kristin & Joe and children have moved into our house after selling theirs. They are continuing to look for a home to purchase that will better accommodate their growing family. We saw fireflies on Thursday evening - right in our yard here in Muncie! They are amazing to watch. One of the YSA girls caught one so we could see it up close - very cool.
Our lesson on Managing Finances went well this week. We submitted our first monthly Institute attendance online & printed out roll sheets now that everyone is registered. We installed a large whiteboard with a monthly calendar template on it for posting Institute/Mission events and birthdays. Gary replaced some tongue & groove boards in our apartment porch ceiling - and managed to keep the other boards from collapsing (not an easy task!) - and then painted the porch. We pruned all the bushes and hand watered the grass and flowers (no sprinklers) since we haven't had any rain for some time. The Elders came Saturday morning to do service and painted our Institute porch floor for us.
We rode the cruiser bikes 6 miles north on the Greenway Trail on Friday morning before heading back. Friday evening we were feeling that 12 mile ride in our knees (and our seat).
Today we spoke at a 9 am Sacrament Meeting after being asked on Saturday afternoon. Fortunately the subject was missions - so that wasn't too stressful. We got invited for dinner today - our first since arriving - although we've attended several "graduating senior open house" parties with food - a big deal here! Ended our day with popcorn and a game of Word On The Street. Best wishes to niece Lauren who gets married in the Logan Temple on Tuesday.
